A fully comprehensive introduction to Seamanship skills. Progressing through chartwork, weather, tides, pilotage and on to the collision regulations, this course is for those who want to progress to developing the skills to manage and take charge of a small craft safely in daytime in familiar waters.
It is ideal preparation for the Day Skipper Practical Course – aiming to give the basis of knowledge to make the decisions required as the master of a small craft.
While the course will accommodate the ambitious beginner, some boating experience is advantageous

45 hours with 2 assessment papers. Additional reading and study materials are suggested.
Qualification
Successful students are awarded a "Day Skipper Theory" certificate, which takes them to the level of theory required to complete the Day Skipper Practical course and achieve an International Certificate of Competence.
Previous experience required
None, but some boating experience is advantageous.
